Welcome to my teaching portfolio.

Experts are just amateurs who didn’t stop learning.

I didn’t pursue teaching as a career until I was in my thirties. I initially worked in health care as a Medical Assistant then as a Veterinary Assistant. In high school, I struggled to decide what to do after graduation, but I knew I wanted to go to college. When I listened to the missionaries tell their stories on Sundays as a little girl, I thought I wanted to be a missionary or pastor. It didn’t seem then that a girl could be a pastor. Marine biologist or zoologist were my next thought, but they too seemed beyond reach.

College was not available immediately after high school because of money, but trade school was. I did eventually get to college; and though it took me ten years to complete my first bachelor degree, the experiences I had along the way make working in schools meaningful and enjoyable.

Though I like helping animals and wanted to work in the life sciences and veterinary medicine, I also wanted to work with students and influence them in a positive way. The career path I am on now is a mix of the helping professions, church ministry, and working with nature. It has been rewarding and worth the work at this time in my life.
